Hereschoff 28 Classic Timber Ketch, built by Griffen boat builders in Sydney in 1952, �leisurely� has lived in Melbourne for 20 years. An extensive reconditioning was carried out in 1997 by Anthony Dalton which included dynal sheathing the decks, new standing rig, new main and mizzen sails, and several other detailed timber jobs, bringing her back to her original beauty and guaranteeing trouble free sailing - The motor was replaced in 2001 with a Volvo 20 HP diesel. Built predominantly from Oregon with hardwood ribs, teak gunnel rails and trim, Oregon spars, brass and bronze fittings everywhere and lead full length keel. Timber boat or Hereschoff purests will love the extra original canvas sails and the opportunity to spit and polish the bright work. The inventory includes 2 x self tailing Lewmar winches, furlex furler, mylar main and mizzen sails, spinnaker, solar panel to trickle charge the batteries, 2 anchors, VHF and 27MHz radios, windex, and safety gear. The cabin is spacious and easily accommodates 2 in single side berths; the galley has a 2 burner metho stove, large ice box, stainless sink, pressure water and good storage/bench space. Surprisingly there is a large separate head with manual pump out toilet and the overall feel inside the cabin area is one of light and space. The cockpit is huge for a 28 providing plenty of room to swing the highly varnished tiller and still have five or six crew enjoying a day out on the water with you. The Hereschoff 28 is a classic design that has an impressive history of punching above its weight in club races and on extended voyages.
