Powercat, custom built Hames 35, 2017 launch, great design, beautifully finished and priced to sell.
Power Cat, Hames 35, launched 2017, Twin Suzuki 90 Hp 4 stroke outboards, loads of style, heavily optioned and completely practical with good accommodation, economical operation , awesome stability and surprising performance. Let’s start with the extras; the boat has all of the features you would look for to enjoy extended stays on the water; inverter, shore power with battery charger, solar charge back up, 6 x battery bank, spacious stand up head with holding tank, pressure hot water shower, galley with good bench space & storage, induction cook top, microwave and large fridge. The accommodation includes one big queen aft cabin with separate change area and locker storage, and then there are 4 large single berths with ample space and headroom, and even a nice area that could easily become your floating office. The main cabin consists of a large lounge with a quick to remove table that also comes with an extension to comfortably seat 6 people. This also ties in nicely with the captains helm, comprehensively set up to provide all the feedback one needs, with electronic engine controls, Raymarine C95 MFP, autopilot, VHF Radio with AIS receiver, NMEA engine data, rear view camera and entertainment via a C.D stereo and TV/DVD. One really impressive feature is the safe & easy access to the bow area via an electric actuator centre door that provides plenty of ventilation when at berth and brilliant access to the Lonestar anchor winch and nice wide fwd deck area. The rear deck area is set up to enjoy being either on or in the water with swim ladder access and comfortable seating to while away the hours and a practical inclusion with a built-in passarelle or fold away gang plank, hidden from view when not in use but very handy to easily berth, Mediterranean style, at a beach or quayside. The build quality is commensurate with a no compromise long term custom construction, carried out by fussy owners; it looks great; in fact it is a real head turner and is clearly well finished. The materials are all top notch and a lot of thought has gone into this boat, which is evident everywhere you look, but it’s the things you can’t see that often cost plenty and make all the difference. Tankage is generous with 400 litres of fuel, 120 L holding tank and 120 L of water. The twin Suzuki’s cruise comfortably at 18 knots using less than 27L per hour, but will push the boat up to 25 knots. Economy is mind blowing at 13 knots with over 400 NM range, and she slices through the rough stuff with ease and grace thanks to the beautifully shaped and solid strip planked epoxy cedar core, GRP hulls. Visibility is great, comfort level high and being able to pull the outboards up out of the water keeps maintenance way down. These guys have taken into account the cost of berthing a Cat and so have restricted the beam to 4.5M which means she will fit in a standard marina berth keeping storage costs to a minimum. Overall this boat is a rare find and when compared with ‘production’ boats of a similar size and spec represents substantially better value and with stacks more flair. If you are looking for something a little different, appreciate quality workmanship and understand clever design, then check out the Hames 35 Power Cat, it’s a winner.
